The RYA Coastal Skipper Course aims to put some decent miles on the clock with longer passages. This gives you the opportunity to manage a boat and crew, planning the passage, preparing the pilotage for entry into the port. At the end of the course you will have broadened your horizons and cruising range, and will be able to skipper the longer coastal passages by day and night.
Assumed Experience: Day skipper practical or equivalent, 300 miles Navigation to Coastal skipper shore-based standard.
Continuous 5 day course only – sailing off to other ports.

|RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Coastal Preparation & Exam 2018 Days (Sun-Sun) 5 Day Prep + 2 Day ExamCost: 7 Days £690 + Exam Fee (£215)
Previous Experience Required: 30 days aboard, 2 days as skipper, 800 miles logged, 12 night hours (Half the qualifying sea-time must have been conducted in tidal waters). VHF operators certificate, valid first aid certificate, If a RYA Coastal Skipper completion certificate is held only 400 miles required
Course Overview: Preparation and brush up for the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate of Competence. Revision of advanced skippering techniques, close quarters handling under power and sail, navigation and pilotage by day and night, man overboard recovery and overall yacht management skills
Includes: Food (apart evening of joining), wet weather kit, accommodation aboard. Mooring fees are extra – we suggest that you budget approximately £30
The theory lessons and some powerboat courses can be completed at our inland RYA centre west of London (close to Staines) based upon our large 500 acre Queen Mary Reservoir, and the practical courses either from the river Hamble at our yacht charter base at Mercury Yacht Harbour or Brighton Marina (delivered by our school partners).
